Yeah this look can be tough to pull off without looking too 'lolita'. The key is to balance the look with some casual elements. Good point on the colors (as I sit here in a grey sweater dress that shows every lump...yuck). I've found that heather greys seem to be really hard to wear and should be left to athletic gear. Although this may just be a bad angle because this girl is a size 0 and looks much better in motion.

sorry PS, she looks more frump than fashion! What's with her white shirt rolled sleeves? For a minute I thought she had stolen one of my fathers old neck ties and wrapped it around her waist. Grey might be a bad choice for her as well, she's not a large woman a by any means but grey seems to add 10 kilos to her. She needs a black, dark brown or navy sweater dress.
